Philosophy DepartmentAbout the DepartmentThe Philosophy Department of Silda Chandrasekhar College is a primordial one that started functioning since 1971-72. The Honours course was introduced in the year 2005. Initially the institute was affiliated under University of Calcutta, but presently it is under the affiliation of Vidyasagar University. Currently the department has four faculties who form an efficient workgroup. It creates teaching-learning environment in the direction of the overall upbringing of the students. We believe that classroom study is not sufficient to achieve our desired goal. Simultaneously we have arranged for a number of seminars, stage performances, celebration of ‘Teachers’ Day’ etc. Departmental meetings are held in regular intervals to discuss academic matters. We want to help our student to become creative, sensible, socially aware and aesthetically sound. With happy memories of last academic year, let us buck up with all earnestness to make the next one more eventful in the field of academic excellence as well as creativity.
